What can't be sold on Bluenose
Last updated: September 2026
Bluenose is for Nova Scotia businesses selling physical goods. To keep the marketplace safe and trustworthy, some things can't be sold here. This list isn't exhaustive — if something's clearly against the spirit below, it's not allowed.
Physical goods only
- No services — bookings, lessons, consultations, labour, or appointments.
- No digital goods — downloads, files, software, gift cards, subscriptions, or anything delivered electronically.
- No prepared food for immediate consumption — that's Bluenose Dining's world, not the marketplace.
Nothing illegal, unsafe, or restricted
- Anything illegal to sell in Nova Scotia or Canada.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives, and related parts.
- Cannabis, tobacco, vaping products, alcohol, and other regulated substances.
- Prescription drugs, medical devices, or supplements making health claims.
- Recalled, unsafe, or age-restricted products sold outside their rules.
- Live animals.
Nothing counterfeit or misrepresented
- Counterfeit goods, or items infringing someone else's trademark or copyright.
- Stolen goods, or anything you don't have the right to sell.
- Listings that misrepresent what the item is, its condition, or where it's made.
Nothing hateful or exploitative
- Material that promotes hate, violence, or discrimination.
- Sexually explicit material.
- Anything that exploits or endangers people.
We can remove a listing or pause a shop that breaks these rules, and we'll tell you why. Not sure whether something's allowed? Ask us first at sam@bluenoseapp.ca.
